Beckenham stabbing: Daughter of alleged murder victim Julianne Egan who survived attack speaks of horror

The survivor of a frenzied fatal knife attack in Beckenham has recounted the moment she was forced to fight for her life before finding her mother dead in a pool of blood in the next room. Emma Peel was sleeping at the Ulandi Court home with her mother Julianne Egan, 63, when she was allegedly set upon by Deng David Ker earlier this month. Mr Ker then allegedly went on the run for 12 hours before he was found and charged with Ms Egan’s murder. Speaking for the first time about the horrifying alleged attack in a television interview on Wednesday, Ms Peel recalled waking up to “something sharp in her face”. It is alleged that weapon was a blade of glass. Ms Peel says she found her mother — who had allegedly been stabbed several times in the neck — dead in the next room. “I’ve gone into mum’s room and found her on the floor. She was dead. There was a pile of blood on the floor,” she said. Ms Peel said her sister and her 17-year-old niece were at home at the time. And she claims they now have nowhere to go because the locks have been changed on the State-owned home that was in her mother’s name. “It’s hard to grieve at the moment, there’s been no support at all,” Ms Peel said. “No one has come to us, we’ve had to deal with it on our own.”
