VideoTree falls in Subiaco, blocks road and damages fence

A huge tree has fallen in Subiaco, completely blocking a busy road as locals head home ahead of the weekend.

The tree — which has stood tall at the front of a property on the corner of Rupert Street and Heytesbury Road for more than 40 years — was suddenly uprooted about 4.15pm, narrowly missing a car as it fell.

The tree is currently laying across Heytesbury Road, with neighbours directing traffic and using witches hats to stop people driving through while they wait for the council to organise its removal.

The owner was unaware the tree had fallen until neighbours raced over to inform her.

She said the tree was checked just 12 months ago and given the all clear.

Photos from the scene show the tree narrowly missed falling on the house, only damaging an old wooden fence. It’s understood no one was injured.
