A WA woman has been charged after allegedly subjecting her dog to a beating so brutal he had to be euthanised.

The 46-year-old Leonora woman was allegedly seen swinging the Jack Russell crossbreed by his front legs into a brick wall, punching him, kicking him in the stomach, stomping on him and throwing him on to the ground while out on a walk with a young child.

The horrifying moment, alleged to have occurred on the morning of January 1, 2022 near the Leonora Post Office on Tower Street, was caught on CCTV.

A local police officer identified the alleged suspect in the video, and an RSPCA WA inspector attended the woman’s home to find the dog was unable to walk properly.

The dog was surrendered and a vet examination determined his injuries were so bad his hind leg needed to be amputated. However, the dog was later euthanised.
