RECAP: Fremantle Dockers Liam Henry joins St Kilda as forward Lachie Schultz traded to Collingwood

That’s where we leave the blog for today with some big moves being completed for Fremantle.

They should be happy with the Schultz deal but may feel short-changed by what they got for Henry but only time will tell how valuable those draft picks are.

Rhys Stanley, Zach Tuohy and Gary Rohan will play on in 2024 with the trio signing a one year deal with the Cats.

Geelong Cats General Manager – Football Andrew Mackie said the Club was thrilled to have the trio sign on.

“Zach, Rhys and Gary are all influential people and players at our football club. They continue to contribute significantly on-field, and the professionalism and leadership they bring off the field is instrumental to the growth of our younger players and the football program.”

They join Tom Hawkins who signed a one-year deal last week putting end to speculation he was looking to leave the Cats.

Fremantle have picks 34, 46, 60 and 64 for November’s draft.

Given what the scouts are saying you can’t expect too much in that range.

But with three first-rounders next year Freo will be big players in 2024.

If people thought this year’s draft was compromised, next year’s is already shaping up to be more of the same.

So after a frenetic couple of hours, Fremantle now has three first-round picks in next year’s draft and picked up another second-rounder for Liam Henry.

Freo has certainly loaded up the war chest for next year, will they crack it open for Logan McDonald next year?

Sydney have said they are not interested in trading the WA star but until he is locked down teams will be coming hard for him.

Less than an hour after the Lachie Schultz deal was done Liam Henry has been traded to St Kilda.

The Dockers secure a future second-rounder from St Kilda and exchange future fourths.
