West Coast Eagles skipper Oscar Allen throws support behind Youth Integrated Football Competition

West Coast co-captain Oscar Allen was thrilled to get back to his local footy roots on Sunday as an ambassador for the Youth Integrated Football Competition. Run by the All Abilities Football Association, the inaugural four-week competition looks to bridge the gap for senior school students between Year 7 and 12. The Quinns Bulls hosted the round two clash against the Coolbinia Bombers at Bellhaven Park on Sunday, with Joondalup Kinross Jets and Ellenbrook Dockers making up the four-team competition. Allen, who played junior football for Whitfords, said it was great to be involved as an AFL Disability Inclusion Ambassador. “It’s great that there are four clubs committed to getting a team out here,” Allen told The West Australian. “The age demographic, 13-18, a lot of these kids probably wouldn’t have had the opportunity to play footy in the past so it’s awesome, it’s what footy is about, being inclusive and everyone being able to play. “They’ve all got the biggest smiles on their faces, out there having a great time. It’s pretty heartwarming to see. “I think I remember coming down and playing footy on this oval when I was a kid. It’s a small world, I grew up not far from here.” Tom Medhat from WA All Abilities Football said it was great for kids to have the opportunity to be connected to a local footy club as part of the competition. “The social aspect is huge for these guys and the ability for them to have a huge group of mates that they can come down and play footy with, have a common goal is massive.”
