The biggest name in world basketball is looking for a new home and there is no shortage of suitors in the NBA for LeBron James.

But it hasn’t stopped a variety of West Australian clubs from putting their hands up on social media to get the services of the four-time NBA Champion.

News broke overnight that James would exit the Los Angeles Lakers after eight years at the glamour franchise which included a championship in 2020.

It appears that Golden State Warriors are the likely landing point for the 22-time NBA All-Star, but could a sea change to WA be on the cards? Highly unlikely, but it is fun to dream.

And that is exactly what the Perth Wildcats have done by posting a doctored image of the 41-year-old wearing a Wildcats guersey on their social media accounts.

The Game NRL 2026

We’re not too sure James has ever held a Burley before, but WAFL club Swan Districts were happy to put him in the jumper of retired ruckman Nathan Blakely for a laugh on their socials as well.

State league rivals East Fremantle got the jump though, putting him in the No.1 that had previously been donned by Milan Murdock before he joined West Coast at the start of the season.

West Coast also got in on the act however, they did not pitch for LeBron directly, instead using him to help announce the return of their ochre guernsey.

If football isn’t his go, then cricket could be an option with Big Bash League franchise the Perth Scorchers also putting their case forward to recruit the American.

One sport James is likely to be familiar with is ice hockey, but field hockey is a stretch with the Perth Thundersticks unlikely to get his services despite the legendary athlete looking good in the white.

And then there is the great Bell Tower Times, who were more than happy to link James to NBL1 West side the Willetton Tigers, who might find it tough in the local league.

Either way, James might like the low-key life of Scarborough beach on a Saturday and a coffee down the strip at Fremantle.

Heck, could see him line up in West Coast’s midfield alongside Harley Reid and Willem Duursma in 2027?

Or could he join fellow American Mason Cox at Fremantle, putting more heat on ruckman Sean Darcy?
