Australian surfing great Mick Fanning has added a second grommet to his family after welcoming a baby daughter.

Fanning and partner Breeana Randall on Tuesday announced the arrival of Lyla Skye Fanning, who was born last Thursday.

It’s the couple’s second child after their son, Xander, arrived in 2020.

The Fannings were inundated with well-wishes and congratulations on Instagram from a host of prominent names, including surfers Conner Coffin and Alana Blanchard and retired AFL great Lance Franklin.

The news comes just weeks after Fanning suffered a family tragedy with the death of his brother Edward, who passed away following an infected cut to his foot while working at a surf tour camp in Madagascar.

He was the third of Fanning’s brothers to have died following the loss of Sean to a car crash in 1998 and Peter, who passed away in his sleep due to a health-related condition, in 2015.
