Facebook down: Global outage hits social media giant, Instagram users report issues with Meta

Social media giant Meta suffered a global outage earlier Wednesday, with users worldwide reporting they are unable to access Facebook and Instagram.

In Australia, popular outage website Down Detector recorded thousands of users saying they were unable to access Facebook. The number of recorder users unable to access the platform was higher in the UK and US.

Results were similar for Meta owned Instagram.

When users attempt to log in or access the site, they are met with a message stating their account is “temporarily unavailable”.

Meta’s business suite has also reported issues for WhatsApp.

The company has not yet commented on the global outage.
