This is bicentenary year of Albany.

It is the State’s first bicentenary as, 200 years ago, this was the first permanent European settlement in WA. This was where new arrivals and Indigenous people first lived together. Albany is a town with a significant past, present and future.

Essentially, this is the bicentenary of Western Australia, and The West Australian and Albany Advertiser are marking the occasion with a 48-page colour magazine.

It is free in the Albany Advertiser on Thursday, January 29, and in The West Australian on Friday, January 30.

Our Albany 2026 magazine is full of stories about the town and its past, present and future.
