There’s one more reason to stay for the weekend at Discovery Resorts — Rottnest Island this summer. The resort kicks off its Summer Series on Saturday October 31 from 1.30pm to 6.30pm with an Aperol Spritz takeover at Pinky’s.

Enjoy the laid-back vibe on the sundeck, views of one of the island’s best beaches and the sounds of DJ Chad LaTulippe and Laura “Sax Lady” Laureli, alongside antipasto and Aperol specials. $50 will get you two Aperol Spritz and an antipasto platter (or $30 without the spritz).

But there’s no need for the fun to end there. Settle in as the sun sets over the bay, then snuggle up for the night in one of the resort’s luxury eco-tents. And even better, breakfast at Pinky’s is included in all stays.

The monthly Saturday line-up of live music, food and drink runs through to April.

From 2.30pm on November 28, DJ Chad LaTulippe will play a set along with Marcio Mendes on percussion, drums and sax.

Set yourself up for a fun festive period on December 19 when Marcio Mendes pairs up with DJ Gabs.

Moving into next year, the resort will host its Wine & Beer Festival on January 23, with tasting pop-ups, plus live music from Gemini, featuring drums, vocals, sax and electric violin. Sounds like a good excuse to stay a while and make the most of the long weekend.

February 20 sees local duo Calico take to the stage and on March 20, Perth-based trio Distant Sun promise to make sure “the show will go off”.

The series comes to an end on April 24 with a finale from Howie Morgan.

Discovery Resorts — Rottnest Island features luxury eco-tent accommodation with en-suite bathrooms, ceiling fans, pillow-topped beds, fly-screened doors and windows, and a furnished deck. It’s camping, only better. Superior, premium and deluxe tents also have well-equipped kitchenettes.

Most of the accommodation is nestled within a wooded area filled with native planting and mature trees which give great shade and a decent amount of privacy. The remaining deluxe and premium tents are a bit more secluded, set behind the dunes and just steps away from the sand on Pinky and The Basin beaches.

As well as being close to the ocean, the resort has a lovely pool area and communal barbecues. Breakfast is served at Pinky’s Bar & Restaurant from 7am to 10am, then its all-day menu is dished up from 11am to 8pm.

Table bookings for the Summer Series are available at pinkysrottnestisland.com.au, and accommodation at Discovery Resorts — Rottnest Island can be booked at discoveryresorts.com.au.
