Members of the Albany Malayalee Association gathered at Albany Health Campus on May 28 for a blood donation campaign.

Several of the association’s members gave blood after hearing City of Albany councillor Rebecca Stephens highlight the importance of voluntary donations and explain how a single donation could save multiple lives.

The association’s president Jobison Jacob, secretary Roshan Philip and member Sreejith Sreedharan were the first to get hooked up, followed by other members who joined the campaign.

Mr Jacob said Cr Stephens had inspired members to donate blood.

“She appreciated the efforts of the Albany Malayalee Association in organising such a meaningful community service program and encouraged more people to come forward and participate in the future,” he said.

“The blood donation campaign was also appreciated by participants and well-wishers with many praising the organisation for taking a socially responsibly initiative that benefits the wider community.”

Mr Jacob said the organisation would be taking part in more community-oriented programs and charitable activities in the future.
