Aussie blues and folk favourites Hussy Hicks to bring Same Boat tour to Bunbury, Margaret River and Bridgetown

An Aussie favourite blues and folk band are set to bring their unique sound to the South West as part of their national tour. Fresh off shows in Europe, Hussy Hicks will venture to Bunbury, Margaret River and Bridgetown for the Same Boat tour, coinciding with the launch of their three-track EP of the same name. Hussy Hicks vocalist Leesa Gentz said being able to visit WA after COVID restrictions was exciting and something she had wanted to do for a while. “This is going to be our first time back to WA in three years and we absolutely love it,” Ms Gentz said. “We’ve been touring in WA since 2007 and usually we are over the west coast at least two or three times a year. “We love WA and we actually had planned several different tours at the end of 2020 and during 2021, but everything we tried to put in place was cancelled due to border closures during the pandemic.” Gentz said the pandemic not only affected the band’s tour plans, but also inspired their latest single Not Your Dog, which features on their Same Boat EP. “It’s a reflection of what I experienced during that time and this pent-up frustration, our whole objection in life is to gather people and play music and that was not great during the COVID times,” she said. “It’s just really difficult when you have spent your entire life trying to achieve a certain goal and then that thing is bad for society at that time.” Gentz said the band was looking forward to travelling down south and catching up on all they had missed in the past three years. “There is something absolutely special about the South West and we try to play shows in the South West when we can,” she said. “We’re pretty enthusiastic wine drinkers, so there will be plenty of wine tastings and I can’t lie, that’s one of the things we’re looking forwards to.” Hussy Hicks will perform at Froth Craft Brewery in Bunbury on Thursday with Eli Greeneyes as a supporting act, before heading to Settler’s Tavern in Margaret River the following day and then the massive Blues in Bridgetown Festival this weekend.
