Barracudas beat Cobras in first match back for 2022

Basketball has returned to Manjimup in an emphatic way with two of the best teams in the competition going head-to-head in a thrilling match. The undefeated Barracudas and Cobras faced off on Monday night in the first round back since the Christmas and new year break with the former winning by 21 points. The match started off in lively fashion with both teams throwing all their energy into every attack to try to clear as much distance as possible between themselves and their opponents. The first half was filled with insane drives and skillful threes as the two sides showed why they deserved to be in the A division. Despite both teams having only five players for the match, the Cobras managed to make it a close affair in the first term and stay within touching distance of the undefeated Barracudas. The score at the half read in favour of the Barracudas who led 25-16. When the game resumed both teams picked up where they left off and went straight back to what they do best, scoring baskets. Although every player on the court was good on the ball, stand out performances by Tate East and Braden Wilson from the Barracudas changed the dynamic of the match as the team in black began to pull away from the Cobras. Towards the end of the second period the lack of substitutes began to take its toll with the Barracudas scoring more and more often without reply from the Cobras. The Cobras did not let this get their spirits down as they began trying to see who could score the more creative baskets between them. When the final buzzer went the Barracudas were clear by 21 points, winning 57 to 36. The next game for the Barracudas is against the Hawks A team while the Cobras take on the Wolfpack with both games listed for February 9.
