A mobile black spot in the Lower South West will soon be pulled out of the dark by a new 4G tower. A Telstra 4G macro cell base station will be constructed in Catterick, a farming region just outside of Greenbushes, under the Federal Government’s Regional Connectivity Program. Greenbushes was named on the list of towns to receive new mobile coverage projects last month. The Bridgetown-Greenbushes Shire recently announced the new station will be located near the intersection of Greenbushes-Boyup Brook Road and Kendall Road. The Shire owns two reserves in the area which could house the infrastructure but it said Telstra, which is responsible for the project, may consider developing on private land subject to obtaining landowner agreement.
