Boyup Brook Cricket Club claimed its first win of the season defeating Bridgetown by 45 runs at the weekend.

After winning the toss, Bridgetown elected to bat but after losing three early wickets they soon found themselves under pressure from the Boyup Brook bowlers led by Jacob Maw.

Bridgetown batters Tom Sherwell (46) and Darren Tassos (26) rebuilt the innings with a commanding partnership but both fell immediately after the drinks break.

Bridgetown captain Darcy Walsh provided some resistance at the tail with an unbeaten 36 runs, however Bridgetown were bowled out in the 43rd over for 167.

Boyup Brook bowlers Maw and Jason Raven finished with the best figures 3-14 and 3-23 respectively.

Boyup Brook opening batters Tim Mead and Braydon Ridley looked to take the game away early scoring runs to all parts of the ground.

Bridgetown’s James McAlinden provided the hosts with the breakthrough removing Mead for 26 runs and following up with a second wicket in the over.

Ridley continued to score runs freely throughout his innings and was well supported by Josh Miller (21).

Ridley was finally dismissed for 108 runs and with late wickets from Daniel Schrama, Boyup Brook was bowled out for 212 runs.

Schrama finished with the best figures of 3-14 and McAlinden (2-29), Walsh (2-31) and Mat Tasso (2-33) took two wickets each.

Boyup Brook are scheduled to take on Pemberton at home next week and Bridgetown will look for their first win of the season against Manjimup at Bridgetown oval.
