The Bridgetown Bulldogs have wasted no time in rediscovering their fantastic form from last season as they blew Manjimup Tigers out of the water in their opening match of the 2022 Lower South West Football League competition, with the final score reading 27.15(177) to 4.8(32). The match was played in Manjimup and right from the word go the Bulldogs were all over the Tigers, dominating the ruck and controlling the match from the midfield. Quickfire goals early on showed that the visitors meant business and left the Tigers helpless and over run at the back with Bridgetown kicking nine goals in the opening term. The home team managed to kick a couple of their own to give themselves a slight chance of remaining in the tie, however, this all changed in the second quarter as the pressure from the Bulldogs only widened the gap between the two sides. Another four goals from the Bulldogs put the game firmly out of reach of the Tigers and left the Manjimup squad with the simple game plan of trying to minimise how much they would concede. As both teams went into the half-time break, the Bulldogs held a commanding lead of 58 points as the score card read Bridgetown 13.7(85) to Tigers 4.3(27). The pressure did not let up for the Tigers in the third quarter as goal after goal from the Bulldogs showed that they would be the team to beat this season. A mammoth 10-goal haul from the Bulldogs put them firmly in the driving seat with Brett Wilson, Darcy Walsh, Brendon White and High Mitchell all having stand out performances on the Saturday. The Tigers only managed to kick three behinds in the third period as tired legs and a lack of substitutes took its toll on the squad. The fourth quarter was more of a formality as the Bulldogs continued to kick four more goals and push the winning margin out to a ridiculous 147 points. The final score for the match read Bridgetown 27.15(177) to Manjimup Tigers 4.8(32).
