Bridgetown continues on with Anzac Day service despite poor weather

More than 200 people attended the service in the St Brigid’s Hall yesterday morning. The Bridgetown RSL hosted its Anzac Day commemorative service at the hall after undesirable weather conditions halted original plans to host it at the Cenotaph after the march from the post office. The service consisted of speeches from Bridgetown RSL member Robert Robb, prayers by Bridgetown RSL member Judy May, a poem from Bridgetown High School students Smith Beswick and Eva Henderson-Mott, and several songs sung by the Jubilee Singers choir. The service commemorated the 50th anniversary of Australia’s exit from the Vietnam War along with the 70th anniversary of the Korean War.
