Bridgetown Rotary Club host ‘Up close and classical’ concert

Music lovers from across the South West are gearing up for a night of “up close and classical” live music at the Bridgetown Repertory Theatre this weekend.
The concert is presented by the Rotary Club of Bridgetown, featuring classical performances including a trumpet duet, a violin trio, piano solos, guitarists, and vocalists.
Rotary Club youth director and concert producer Chris Shedley said attendees could look forward to a mix of local artists and Perth-based acts in the line up for the night.
“We invite some visiting artists from Perth to join our concert for the purpose of inspiring and mentoring some of our budding young musicians who will be absolutely inspiring for other performers and audiences,” Mr Shedley said.
Performances will include both covers and original compositions, including Donnybrook vocalist Claire Robinson, Mary Myfanwy Evans singing some original songs, and the Dale family ensemble playing Baroque and Klezmer music.
Mr Shedley said the concert was developed to showcase the performance talents of our local music teachers and some of their talented students and attracts a full house each year.
“One of my passions is seeing the progression of young artists, for example, Claire Robinson who performed in our first concert in 2006,” he said.
“Local kids will get to know top performers and its great for them to be able to perform with professional artists.”
Mr Shedley said attendees can also look forward to returning MC, Alan Wilson, complementary wine on arrival, and a contribution of amazing food from the rotary volunteers.
Organisers said all funds raised from the concert will go towards worthy local causes.
The concert will be held on Saturday 8, October at 7pm. Tickets are still available from the Bridgetown Community Resource Centre for $20.
