Bulldogs reserves the favourites

The Bridgetown Bulldogs’ last reserves premiership was back in 2015 when they disposed of Deanmill by just five points.

Prior to that victory they endured a lengthy void of grand final success.

This Saturday the Bulldogs will take with them a definite advantage by playing on their home ground in front of a parochial supporter base and plenty of confidence, knowing they have defeated Deanmill at this venue early in the season.

The experience in the Bulldogs line-up will be a factor Deanmill will have to contend with, especially the likes of Clinton Best, James and Ben McAlinden, Jamie O’Byrne, Garret Waters, Morgan Price, Daniel Humby and Craig Clancy, all of who were at the forefront of their semi-final victory.

To add to this impressive line-up the Bulldogs have Levi Rohan and Isaac Rutten up forward where they will be hard to nullify going on recent form.

Deanmill looked out of their depth in the heavy going at Kojonup, especially up forward where Brandt Pears, Cameron Bailye, and Jed Parkinson did not have their normal impact.

Coach Adrian Reeve will also be looking to his midfield for greater influence with the likes of Victor Markotis, Jeremy Butler, and Nicholas Barton needing to use their skills to offset the Bulldogs’ style of play.

Deanmill’s defence has stood up well in recent weeks with Glen Sutton, Jonty East, Corey Gibellini, and Jack Kilrain all showing great desperation in the heat of battle.

The outcome of the contest may rest on the shoulders of Deanmill big game player Keegan Bennett who has a liking to the big stage, and if he takes control, Deanmill may turn the tables on Bridgetown.
