Bulldogs savage Souths

Bridgetown, who have done nothing but completely dominate the 2021 Lower South West Football League season, put on a goal-scoring masterclass against the Southerners at the weekend. The Bulldogs cracked the double century for the first time this season in winning 31.14 (200) to Southerners’ 5.1 (31) in Pemberton on Saturday. Bridgetown hit the scoreboard early, proving it was going to be a tough day for the home side, piling on nine goals to the Southerners’ one in just the first term. Already trailing by 53 points at quarter-time, there was little the Southerners could do to stop the onslaught. In the second quarter, Bridgetown added another nine goals while the Southerners only managed a single behind, and the lead pushed out to 109 points at the major break. The Southerners dug deep after taking a rest and were able to boot four goals in the third term, but the Bulldogs kicked yet another five. Bridgetown piled on another eight goals in the last quarter while keeping their opponents scoreless. The Bulldogs had plenty of goal kickers but the charge was led by a 10-goal haul from Jordan Jupp and eight off the boot of Brett Wilson. Bridgetown will host the Imperials at home this Sunday while the Southerners have a bye.
