With the Warren Agricultural Show a little more than a month away, those organising the equestrian events are calling on horse riders to get involved.

The equestrian section of the show has a long history and category organiser Noelle Della Franca said it was important to encourage a new generation of riders.

“As a rural show, I want to encourage young people to compete,” she said.

“There are events that are just for local kids too and events just for the pony club.”

Mrs Della Franca said the show’s equestrian section was also an official venue for points for the Perth Royal Show.

Equestrian categories include show jumping, show horses and breeds.

“For the show jumping, all the prizes are sponsored by local businesses,” Mrs Della Franca said.

People wanting to enter riding sections and show jumping can do so on the day, but breeds entries must be done by post.

Pemberton rider Jordan Della Franca, 12, said she enjoyed competing at the show because it was fun and more casual than usual competitions.

“It’s also good to compete on home turf, there’s less travel,” she said.
