Citizen of the Year award nominations are now open for the 2021 Australia Day awards in the Shire of Manjimup.

Each year, residents are called on to nominate worthy people in the community for one of four awards.

The four categories are Community Citizen of the Year, Young Community Citizen of the Year (under 25), Senior Community Citizen of the Year (over 65) and Active Citizenship for Group or Event.

This year’s Community Citizen of the Year was Ian Wilson, nominated for his various heritage and history-related community activities.

“I certainly encourage people to nominate,” he said.

“There’s lots of champions that work with the community or for the community, who deserve to be recognised and celebrated.”

Awards finalists and winners will be recognised at the Shire of Manjimup’s Australia Day celebrations next year.
