The Manjimup Cherry Harmony Festival Art Award exhibition is open for public viewing at the Manjimup Art Gallery.

The exhibition will run until December 16, with prizes to be presented on December 11, at an invitation-only event.

Exhibition co-ordinator Fay Dunstan said they had received more entries this year than for last year’s inaugural event.

“We’ve got probably 50 per cent local work which always just really excites me and this time we have work from Busselton, Bunbury, Capel, all over the South West,” she said.

“We are probably at our maximum numbers this year and it’s only our second year.

“They are fabulous, it’s been enjoyable but it’s needed quite a lot of concentration and jiggling to get it to gel.”

Balingup artist Sandra Hill will judge the competition and a $3000 prize is on offer for the 2-D open winner.

The young artist prize winner will receive a $250 prize as well as the opportunity to host a four-week exhibition at the gallery.

The viewers’ choice award will be decided by votes cast by attendees, who can vote once for a gold coin donation, with the chance to win a local produce basket.
