Childcare switch important: Wilson

Shannon BochenekManjimup-Bridgetown Times

The region’s families are at risk of missing out on new subsidies if they have not switched to the Government’s new childcare and early learning system by July 2.

O’Connor MHR Rick Wilson has warned some families could be “hundreds if not thousands of dollars a year better off” under reforms to the system, but only if they had made the switch.

Under the system reforms, families with an annual income less than $186,958 will not have a limit on the amount of childcare subsidies they receive per year.

“The package aims to give parents more choice and opportunity to work,” Mr Wilson said.
