The Slam Drunks and Comets Red went toe-to-toe in an intense and nail-biting clash marked with unstoppable offence and immovable defence in the seventh round of the Manjimup A-grade women’s basketball competition.

Sophie Scott, Alicia Gluck and Brielle Krispyn all scored for Comets Red, while the Slam Drunks’ points came from Neve Lazarn, Tanielle Bennett, Catie Delebec, Marley Davies, and Jessilee East.

In the second half, Comets Red kept a steady pace with Brielle Krispyn, Alicia Gluck and Sophie Scott continuing to score.

However, the Slam Drunks caught up to the Comets Red thanks to baskets scored by Jessilee East, Tanielle Bennett, Abbey Holsworth, Belinda Porter and Neve Lazarn, leading to a neck-and-neck battle.

The match ebbed and flowed, with any lead by either team being temporary.

The tie was broken in the last few minutes of the game, thanks to Brielle Krispyn’s free throw which gave Comets Red back the lead - and a 39-38 victory.
