The Manjimup community helped raise almost $5000 for the Cancer Council WA as part of its annual Walk for Cancer.

About 80 people attended the walk on Sunday, which started at Woolworths and finished about 10km away at Fonty’s Pool.

Event co-organiser Laura Waistell said she was impressed by people’s generosity.

“Thank you so much to everyone,” she said.

“Thanks also to Fonty’s, Rotary, Apex, Woolworths and everyone who helped out and supported us.

“Jabba Coffee donated a dollar from every coffee they sold on Saturday.”

Ms Waistell said the full amount raised for the Cancer Council was not finalised yet as she and the organising committee were still tallying up the money.

“We’re looking forward to doing it again next year,” she said.

“Fonty’s Pool approached us with ideas how to expand what we do out there, so maybe we can make it an even bigger and better event.

“Anyone with ideas for next year, please approach us.”

On Sunday, prizes were given out for the best dressed man, woman and dog.

Ms Waistell said the rain held off long enough for people to finish the walk.
