Deanmill product Harley Sparks signs for West Coast’s reserves team after record-breaking SWFL season

A Lower South West product will pull on the famous blue and gold this football season, with former Deanmill junior Harley Sparks signing for West Coast’s WAFL team. The 22-year-old has joined the Eagles reserves on the back of a dominant debut season with Carey Park in the South West Football League, where he won the Hayward Medal for the league’s fairest and best player with a record-breaking tally of 42 votes. Sparks initially committed to playing with Perth in the WAFL last season but made a last-minute move to the Bunbury-based club to join his twin brother Cooper. The classy midfielder is no stranger to the State league, having come through the junior ranks at East Perth and playing 22 league games for the Royals across 2021 and 2022. The Eagles reserves side will be looking to be more competitive this year after winning only one game across their past two campaigns.
