Dingup woman found to have cannabis in property caravan

A Dingup woman has been fined after cannabis and drug paraphernalia was found in a caravan on her property and seized by police. Lisa Marie Beverly, 50, pleaded guilty to two charges — possession of a prohibited drug and posession of drug paraphernalia in or on which there was a prohibited drug or plant — at Manjimup Magistrates Court on Thursday. The court was told at 1.44pm on March 23, police with a warrant searched Beverly’s property and seized eight grams of cannabis in two glass jars, along with a bottle with a mouthpiece. The items were found in a caravan. Beverly told the court the cannabis was for medicinal use and she was self-medicating for post-traumatic stress disorder with the cannabis. Magistrate Joanne Andretich fined her $1200, plus costs of $264,30, and ordered that the drugs and paraphernalia be destroyed. She factored in Beverly’s previous criminal record and drug charges, which she noted as being “frankly appalling”.
