Dinninup Show does not disappoint after year-long hiatus

The 102nd annual Dinninup Show was a roaring success last week with a huge turnout trumping previous years. Show-goers were keen to see its return after last year’s event was cancelled, with the community flocking to the Dinninup Showgrounds, just outside Boyup Brook, on November 2. Upper Blackwood Agricultural Society president David Corker said the committee was more than pleased with this year’s outcome. “We had to cancel the previous year because of COVID and had had some concern about losing momentum, but on the day our attendance was actually up on previous shows,” he said. “Participation rate was very good, there were one or two classes that had a few less items exhibited ,but then there were others like the horses that had a record number. “The stalls and the show itself were well attended and well enjoyed. “It’s encouraging to see people are still very enthusiastic to have a local show and participate in a local show.” Mr Corker said a personal highlight of the show was awarding life membership to a handful of locals, including Richard Blechynden and Harry Regan. “Two well-earned life memberships,” he said. “There was another one to give but the lady was unable to attend, nevertheless it was a huge thing to make the life membership awards for those two gentlemen.”
