DPaW office welcomes new regional manager

Tari JeffersManjimup-Bridgetown Times

THERE is a new face at the Manjimup office of the Department of Parks and Wildlife and he has come from Kununurra to take on the regional manager position.

In his role as the DPaW Warren regional manager, Luke Bentley will work across the Warren, Donnelly and Frankland districts, including their prescribed burning program and improving parks’ visitation experiences.

Mr Bentley was formerly the Kimberley district manager for DPaW and decided to make the change to the Lower South West for the opportunity to learn from a professional team and have new experiences after nine years in Kununurra.

“That will be a priority to me to work with the team here to get an understanding of how we do our business in the Warren region. It’s quite different to the Kimberley,” he said.

“We’re talking about different types of vegetation. Fire behaves differently, so I need to get an understanding of how fire behaves in the southern forests.”

Mr Bentley described himself as a believer in “parks for people” and to see them be accessible and valued by the entire community.
