Festival show offers prizes
Art lovers in the Manjimup region are being encouraged to get along to the Manjimup Art Gallery to see the entries in the Manjimup Cherry Harmony Festival Inaugural Art Prize.
There are 31 entries in the open category and five entries in the young artist category.
Sub committee member Fay Dunstan said moving forward into the future, the aim was to attract more young artists.
“The young artists winner will get a $250 cash award, an art-on-wall contract for 12 months and this gallery space for four weeks at some time over the next two years,” she said.
“They will get mentored and they don’t have to use the gallery space alone.
“We just want them in here taking that big step in exhibiting their work.”
Artists in the category are from Perth, Bunbury, Busselton, Denmark, Pemberton, Manjimup and Bridgetown.
The exhibition will be open until December 19.
