Firefighting additive claims to make water more effective

A fire safety company claims it has developed game-changing technology which will help save lives and homes in the South West. Flameless Fire and Safety has created a range of new products centred around its F-500 encapsulating agent. F-500 EA is a fire-suppression concentrate which the company claims when diluted with water at one per cent makes the water 20 times more effective as a regular firefighting agent. Flameless Fire and Safety partner Les Kennedy said he believed the technology would be invaluable, especially in regional areas. “These products will actually save lives and will help to save properties,” he said. “It should, in the future, give our wonderful bush firefighting services a little bit more help and help them to cut down some of the hours.” “Plus with rural districts of course one of the big problems is water ... most of these products will utilise 80 per cent saving of water which is a really big thing.” Mr Kennedy said his Perth-based company had recently supplied the entire Republic of Singapore Navy with its technology and the Australian Defence Force had purchased its new hand-held fire extinguishers for all cadet units in WA. Mr Kennedy said he hoped to see the technology in the hands of the South West firefighters soon. Flameless Fire and Safety demonstrated its technology and products for industry leaders and Government representatives at the Bridgetown Showgrounds last Thursday. “Bridgetown in particular in the recent years has had two major bushfires ... but year after year now it seems to be getting worse and it’s high time for some new technology to come in, which is what this is all about, to help all the firefighters out there who have one heck of a job to do,” Mr Kennedy said. “Hopefully with the people that come along (to the demo), it doesn’t take us too long to get some of this product out for the new bushfire season coming up.”
