Deanmill Workers Club will host its 37th annual Warren Blackwood Axeman’s Club log chops on Saturday.

Organiser Chris Murphy said the event originated in 1946 at Fonty’s Pool and had been held at the Deanmill Workers Club since 1980.

“It’s a great competition which attracts axemen of all ages to compete,” Mr Murphy said.

“We have about 20 choppers this year aged between about 20 and 73 years of age.”

Axeman Peter Clarke said it was fantastic to see the event still taking place and it was great a broad range of ages were competing.

There will be plenty of entertainment throughout the day including marron races, raffles, presentations and a bouncy castle for the kids.

Band 3 Shades of Grey will provide entertainment with classic 60s music from 7pm until midnight.

The log chops start at 1pm.
