Members of Walpole’s Tidy Town Committee took on the job of cleaning graffiti on Deep River bridge on Sunday. Former Manjimup Shire councillor David Tapley, Keep Australia Beautiful ambassador Michael Filby and Shire councillor Jennifer Willcox took just over two hours to repaint the wall located in Crystal Springs, just north of Walpole. Mr Filby said the work was about supporting the Manjimup Shire’s anti-graffiti policy which entails removing any graffiti within 24 hours. “Walpole Tidy Towns Committee was on the job on Sunday, paint and related equipment on hand, to take on the task of removing the offensive graffiti that someone had defaced the Deep River bridge,” he said. Mr Filby said the graffiti was reported to Main Roads WA but he was not confident the matter would be dealt with any time soon. This was the fourth time Mr Filby had painted over the graffiti on the wall. He said the main reason behind this was that he wanted the area to be promoted as a beautiful place which people could visit and enjoy themselves.
