A Greenbushes hotel has been named a finalist in two categories for the Gold Plate Awards, a Western Australian hospitality industry awards program. The hotel was named as a finalist in two awards on July 31, in the Restaurant with a Tavern/Pub and the Best Pizza categories, with venue co-owner Tracei Taylor saying being a finalist for the two gongs was an exciting opportunity for the venue. “It’s exciting for us to be finalists, especially since we’re competing with people from Perth,” she said. “It’s good recognition for the staff and their efforts, they put their blood, sweat and tears into their work here.” Ms Taylor felt confident in the venue’s food quality and the staff’s calibre in presenting the food to win the Best Pizza category, when the award winners are announced in October at a gala dinner. “We’re gonna definitely win one this year,” she said. “We’re confident we’re going to win the Best Pizza category.” She credited Christina Magenta as the pizza chef who helped contribute to the hotel’s status as a finalist. “Our pizza chef is Christina Magenta and the whole crew have made a team effort, and we wouldn’t be anywhere without them.” The Gold Plate Awards is an annual awards program, run by The Catering Institute of Australia since 1967, that recognises the best from restaurants, cafes and food venues all over Western Australia. The gala dinner will be on October 30 at Crown Perth, where the winners of the categories will be announced.
