Hard work of Manjimup truffle dogs recognised in council vote
The Manjimup Shire Council has implemented a South West first by voting on Thursday to recognise truffle dogs as working dogs.
The council voted on the agenda item on Thursday.
The vote means truffle dogs, like working farms dogs, are eligible through the council for a registration discount.
Manjimup shire president Paul Omodei said the change meant recognition for all the good work truffle dogs did in the shire.
“This is a first for the shire,” he said.
“It recognised the work truffle dogs put in and the growth in the truffle industry. “Truffle dogs are fundamentally important to the shire.”
