Anyone interested in vintage machinery should get along to the Community Volunteer Hub open day on Sunday.

The hub workshop space is temporarily housing items that will be part of the new PowerUp! Electricity Museum.

The museum is due to be opened in December, 2019.

Items in the collection include small clocks and dials, to big generators and switching equipment.

Volunteer tasks range from cleaning, packing and recording to bigger conservation work such as object deconstruction and application of rust protection and waxes.

People interested in tinkering and heritage objects or who have an eye for detail or just want to participate in the project are encouraged to come along to the open day.

Potential volunteers will be shown the kind of works are available and how people can get involved.

The Community Volunteer Hub is accessible from paths through the Manjimup Heritage Park or at the gate on the corner of Edwards and Ward streets.

The open day will be held from 11am to 3pm on Sunday and there will be a barbecue lunch.
