Historical society wants help to find mystery bride

The Bridgetown Historical Society is asking for information about historical photographs in the lead-up to the town’s 150th anniversary next year.

The mystery bride, left, is one such image the society is hoping the community can help identify.

Society president Patricia Higgott said there were more than 4000 photographs they would like information on.

“Probably about half have no details and we now have a Facebook page and are in the process of setting up a website,” she said.

“We get a lot of requests from families for details about their history so all these bits of information we get sometimes, they all come together to make a story.”

The society discovered the bride photo years ago on a strip of negatives.

The photo is also being displayed as part of the Romantic Memories exhibition at the Old Gaol Museum on Hampton Street.

Anyone with information about the photo should contact the society at its Facebook page or the soon-to-be completed www.bridgetownhistoricalsociety.org website.
