Imperials Football Club claim Johnson Cup after beating Manjimup Tigers by 14 points

Imperials Football Club have managed to win back the Johnson Cup from the Manjimup Tigers after a hard-fought win away from home, coming away winners 15.5 (95) to 12.9 (81). In round three of the Lower South West Football League, Imperials have come away with the win after beating the Tigers by 14 points in a very tense football match. The match started off in great fashion, with both teams pushing their opposition to the limit. After perfect shooting from Imperials and a few good chances from Tigers, there were already goals on the score board. As the first siren blew, the Imperials narrowly led the Tigers by three goals (18) to 2.3 (15). When the match picked up again both the Imperials and the Tigers put together good passages of play which resulted in points on the board for both sides. The Tigers just managed to get their noses in front by the end of the second quarter and led the Imperials by five points, 7.5 (47) to 7 (42). When the match restarted after the half-time break, the Tigers heaped pressure on the Imperials. The pressure paid off as another three goals kept them at a five-point lead ahead of their cross-town rivals. The score line heading into the fourth quarter was close with the Tigers at 10.7 (67) and Imperials 10.2 (62). A massive five-goal haul in the last quarter saw the Imperials lift the trophy as 2022 Johnson Cup winners.
