Kirup man charged with murder

A 24-year-old Kirup man has been charged with murder following the death of 56-year-old Manjimup man last month.

The accused allegedly assaulted the victim in the Kirup townsite on July 14.

The victim was in a critical condition with severe head injuries when he was flown to Royal Perth Hospital.

The Manjimup man was in an induced coma before he died on July 25.

Police upgraded the accused’s charge to murder following a post-mortem and ongoing investigations by the Homicide Squad and the Bunbury Detectives office.

He was initially charged with causing grievous bodily harm and criminal damage.

The accused will appear in Bunbury Magistrates Court today.
