LSWFL 2022: Kojonup edge out Tigers, Bridgetown beat Imperials and Boyup Brook smash Southerners in Round 11

Bridgetown beat an inaccurate Imperials at the weekend to hold on to second place on the LSWFL ladder. Despite only recording one more scoring shot than the sixth-placed Imps, the Bulldogs managed to come away with a 13.7 (85) to 7.12 (54) win on Saturday. Connor McCamish and William Masters led the way for home side and kicked four and three goals respectively. Scott Gizzarelli and Keenan-cruz Wilson did their best for the Imperials with three majors each. Mitch Baldock was named best on ground for the Bulldogs who sit in second on the ladder, two wins behind Deanmill, while Brandy Armstrong led the way for the Imperials. Meanwhile, Kojonup have kept the Tigers winless with a narrow victory on the road — despite two dominant quarters from the cellar-dwellers. The Cougars got the jump on the home side at Rea Park and led 3.6 (24) to 1.2 (8) before a second term fight back saw the Tigers in front at half-time by a point. Trailing 3.8 (26) to 3.7 (25) at the main change, Kojonup fought hit the lead again and kept the Tigers scoreless to lead by eight points at the final break. Kicking toward the scoring end in the last, the Tigers did their best to claim their first win of the season but fell short, losing 5.18 (48) to 4.17 (41). On Sunday, the third-placed Boyup Brook slaughtered the Southerners to stay in touch with the top two. Leading 4.2 (26) to 2.0 (12) at the first break, the Roos flexed their muscles in the final three quarters of the match to keep the fifth-placed to just one point after quarter time. Boyup Brook recorded seven individual goal kickers for the match, with Mathew Michael kicking three and being named best on ground. Lewis Mead slotted four. Mathew Fox, Jack Hick and Kye Jasper tried their best for the Southerners but it was all in vain as the Roos ran out winners, 13.17 (95) to 2.1 (13). This Sunday, Bridgetown are expected to be tested when they travel to Kojonup to face the fourth-placed Cougars. Deanmill and Boyup Brook are expected to win from their matches against Imperials and the Tigers.
