LSWFL: Tigers hold their own against Boyup Brook to secure second win of the season

After a devastating and embarrassing loss to Kojonup at Rea Park in round seven, the Tigers defeated Boyup Brook in round eight by 18 points, 16.8 (104) to 13.8 (86). In cool conditions on Saturday at Boyup Brook, Tigers were able to get an early six-point lead in the first quarter, 4.2 (26) to 3.2 (20). The Tigers’ streak didn’t stop there, as they were able to extend their margin, thanks to their excellent communication and teamwork on the field, finishing the first half with a comfortable 27-point lead, 10.6 (66) to 6.3 (39). The home team were not giving up either, with a new sense of determination and aggression evidently showing in Boyup Brook’s gameplay throughout the third quarter, with tackles and tussles witnessed by all. Their tactics worked in slowing down the Tigers’ lead and giving Boyup a fighting chance going into the last quarter, with Tigers leading by a still comfortable but smaller 26 points, 14.7 (91) to 10.5 (65) Boyup Brook put all their might into the last quarter, outscoring Tigers, thanks to their determination and aggressive front. However, the Tigers were able to hold their own and keep Boyup Brook at bay. Also in round eight, Kojonup defeated Bridgetown 13.12 (90) to 7.15 (57).
