Manjimup’s Newton Orchards played host for the Cherry Harmony Festival’s 20th long table lunch event on Sunday. More than 200 people attended the event which featured a five-course banquet to showcase the food of the South West region. Newton Orchards owner Harvey Giblett addressed the crowd at the event and said he was “amazed” the lunch had survived as long as it did. Mr Giblett said events such as this usually only last “four or five years” but as a testament to its popularity the long table lunch had existed as long as the Cherry Harmony Festival itself. This was the last long table lunch scheduled to take place at Newton Orchards due to the farm expanding its cherry trees next year.
