The Manjimup community is being called on to make Christmas a little brighter for people in need.

Organisers of this year’s Christmas Food Hampers say while there are enough toys for this year’s appeal, not enough food has been donated to help the 80 families expected to receive the hampers.

“We’re looking for Christmas-type food,” St Joseph’s Parish secretary Tracy Lambert said.

“Think of what’s going to be on your table at Christmas and add one more item to your basket, to then pass on to others.

“I know people can leave things to last minute, but the more food we get, the better it will be for the families.”

Collection points for the appeal can be found at in Manjimup Coles, Manjimup Woolworths or at the St Joseph’s Parish Centre.

Mrs Lambert also thanked the Kearnan Year 9 students, pictured, who last week helped her start packing the hampers.
