Manjimup crumble to Pemberton on the road
In a clash likely to determine the outcome of the top four on the ladder, Pemberton took on Manjimup at home on the weekend.
Manjimup won the toss and decided to bat first, however Pemberton made a good start thanks to Riley Liddelow taking a great one-handed catch to dismiss opener Jack Muir off Nick Mills bowing in the first over.
The Pemberton opening bowlers kept things tight and at 3-32 Manjimup were struggling.
Ben Lagana and Luke Murphy then put on a steadying partnership of 38 to take the score to 70.
But disaster struck on this score with Manjimup losing three wickets with the wiley John Mckenzie getting the prized scalp of Lagana.
With some lusty blows Daniel Jones and Cameron Harris then took the score to 124, but with Jones dismissal the remaining wickets tumbled quickly leaving Manjimup’s total on 131.
Harris finished on 30 not out with the best of the bowlers for Pemberton being Anthony Ellis on three wickets for 20 and Nick Mills two wickets for 16.
Pemberton started the run chase with openers Ellis and Peter Bamess with 25 runs before Ellis was dismissed.
This brought Gary Mills to the crease and with Bamess they took the score to 57 before Bamess was bowled for 35.
Mckenzie followed Bamess to the changerooms shortly after, so with Pemberton at 3-63 Manjimup were still in the game.
Cameron Bamess then combined to put on a match-winning partnership and take Pemberton to victory with Bamess dominating the strike making 65 of the 96-run partnership with Mills before he was out.
Mills went on to make 62 before he fell to Oscar Murphy, who took career best figures of three wickets for 23 .
Haiden Lagana also chimed in with three wickets for 27 runs to keep Pemberton’s total in check.
Rohan Barber provided a couple of highlights taking two great catches to help dismiss Liddelow and the evergreen Neil Geuer.
Pemberton ended up on 200 after their allotted 45 overs.
Next week Pemberton take on Boyup Brook and Manjimup head down south to take on Northcliffe.
