Tyrepower Manjimup Speedway was forced to cancel Saturday night’s event after a power outage caused by the Bridgetown fire. A modified sedans, street stocks modified sedans, junior sedans and V8 dirt-modified event was originally scheduled to take place. However, due to the 2500ha bushfire in Bridgetown all power to outlying towns, including Manjimup, Boyup Brook and Pemberton, was lost. There were also no ambulances available for the speedway event after every available one was being used to evacuate the Bridgetown hospital and the Geegeelup retirement village. The Manjimup Speedway club released the news about the cancellation on Saturday afternoon on Facebook but did not say when and if the event could be held next. The next event scheduled at the Tyrepower Manjimup Speedway is the WA wingless sprints State title on March 26.
