Manjimup’s Cherry Festival ball returns

Shannon BochenekManjimup-Bridgetown Times

The tradition of the Cherry Festival Ball will make a comeback this year after a seven-year hiatus.

Festival coordinator and committee chairwoman Pam Bodsworth said the official event name was not yet decided but confirmed some kind of formal dance would take place on Saturday, October 27, ahead of the festival in December.

Mrs Bodsworth also announced that the Australian Army Band would feature as entertainment at the 2018 ball. It is the same band that featured at the first ball more than 15 years ago.

In other festival news, Mrs Bodsworth hosted the festival’s annual general meeting last week and said it was “positive” and saw “good turnout”.

“We’re looking forward to getting out there and getting started,” she said.

Mrs Bodsworth said community groups who wanted to support or complement the festival could contact her on 0409 118 296.
