Mixjuz claim top prize in hockey grand finals

It was a great day for Mixjuz as both their A and B-grade teams won their respective grand finals in the Warren Women’s Hockey Association at the weekend. In the A-grade match, Nationals pushed the undefeated Mixjuz right to the edge, with the final whistle blowing and the game ending 0-0. As the game entered extra time, both teams were clearly becoming more dogged in their efforts to win, but neither side could break the deadlock. With the score still locked together after extra time, it went to penalty strokes to decide the game. After five strokes, the scores were still tied, this time at 1-1, forcing the match into sudden death strokes. Victoria Howe, Shanni Moloney and Sharon Hargrave all landed on the score sheet as they stepped forward for Mixjuz when their team needed a result and slotted home their shots to see their side lift the trophy. In the B-grade decider between the same clubs, Mixjux came away 1-0 winners in a tightly fought match. Indiana Otway scored the only goal of the match to secure the premiership for Mixjuz.
