Boyup Brook Country Music Festival is looking to the community to help shape the direction of the 2021 festival.

It has hosted consultation events, including webinars, surveys and a forum at the Boyup Brook Town Hall, held on July 26. Of the 250 people consulted, 82 per cent were supportive of a line-up consisting of WA artists only, with 88 per cent in support of the festival featuring emerging talent.

Festival director Sharon Winter said the support for WA acts was great news for the festival.

“We have such incredible talent in WA and it’ll be a treat to have them in the same place at the same time,” she said “It’s also fantastic for our homegrown legends to work with emerging artists and mentor our young guns.”

COVID-19 was also on the agenda, with 86 per cent of respondents saying they would attend the festival if COVID safety guidelines were enforced.
