Boyup Brook has a new recycling hub at the Community Resource Centre, putting a colourful face to their efforts to encourage recycling.

Trainee Sharon Lampard was inspired to create the new hub by a piece of unused furniture.

“It’s upcycling at its best, because it was a piece of old furniture that was no longer being used in the building,” CRC manager Jodi Nield said.

The mural that sits atop the new hub was designed and created by students attending the Boyup Brook Community Resource Centre’s holiday programs. The hub’s new central location allows staff at the community resource centre to accurately gauge how much the facility is being used.

“We wanted to invite people in the doors as well, rather than having them drop it off on the veranda and not coming inside and saying hello,” Ms Lampard said.

More information about the types of goods the hub will accept is available on the Boyup Brook Community Resource Centre’s Facebook page.
